Cassandra’s out of town for the week so I’ve had the house all to myself. In addition to loud music and kernel hacking, I’ve been experimenting in the kitchen. Today I made brownies and OMG! Cassandra bakes a lot of delicious cakes, but I haven’t had brownies like this since at least the last time I was home. Java House’s brownies are ok, but there’s nothing like home baked!
Kenya
Black Supremacy
There’s a DJ crew in Kenya called Supremacy Sounds. Their mix tapes are quite popular in matatus (public transport mini buses) and clubs, and I’ve even mentioned them before here on this blog. In addition to their mix tape skills, one of the reasons I like them is because of their understanding of the importance of the Internet in the music industry—they actually give away most (all?) of their music for free on their website. Anyways, for the longest time they went by the name Black Supremacy Sounds, and it always made me wonder how well received it would be if I started a new group called White Supremacy Sounds.
Standing Order
Sometimes it’s hard to come across things you’ve gotten used to having. For some items you can just find alternatives, for others, there ARE no alternatives. Having said that, I hereby place a standing order on the following goods:
- Peanut butter cups. Any size.
- Old Spice Original stick deodorant (I just can’t get the hang of roll or spray on!).
If you are traveling to Kenya, bring me these things! In return for your kind gesture I will either pay you back or pick you up at the airport and take you back to Nairobi in a real Kenyan matatu! Oh the adventure!
