Kenya, Rants

There’s a DJ crew in Kenya called Supremacy Sounds. Their mix tapes are quite popular in matatus (public transport mini buses) and clubs, and I’ve even mentioned them before here on this blog. In addition to their mix tape skills, one of the reasons I like them is because of their understanding of the importance of the Internet in the music industry—they actually give away most (all?) of their music for free on their website. Anyways, for the longest time they went by the name Black Supremacy Sounds, and it always made me wonder how well received it would be if I started a new group called White Supremacy Sounds.

Sometimes it’s hard to come across things you’ve gotten used to having. For some items you can just find alternatives, for others, there ARE no alternatives. Having said that, I hereby place a standing order on the following goods:

  • Peanut butter cups. Any size.
  • Old Spice Original stick deodorant (I just can’t get the hang of roll or spray on!).

If you are traveling to Kenya, bring me these things! In return for your kind gesture I will either pay you back or pick you up at the airport and take you back to Nairobi in a real Kenyan matatu! Oh the adventure!

I was so lucky to see this advertisement today as I was walking down Wayaki Way after work. At first it was the “Core i3” that caught my eye, and then the words “FREE DOS” leapt out at me. Holy cow, each new Dell Inspiron comes with a complimentary copy of DOS! How Dell limited themselves to only using capital letters, I don’t know. If I had an opportunity like that I would pay some guy to stand on top of the billboard, shouting, “FREE DOS!!!” at the top of his lungs!
